Pants started with a simple belief: memory would be the thing that made LLMs truly personal.

Not prompts. Not plugins. Memory.

We were early:

• Persistent chat history before it was standard.
• Email connectors before they were fashionable.
• User-specific context when most systems were stateless.

The idea was sound.

Memory turned out to be necessary, not sufficient.

Once the major platforms shipped built-in memory, the advantage collapsed. What was once differentiated became table stakes. And Pants, by design, had no reason to exist without that edge.

Continuing would have meant:

• Chasing incumbents.
• Repackaging features.
• Pretending momentum where there wasn't any.

That's not interesting work.

So we stopped.

Shipping for the sake of shipping is how products rot. This one ends cleanly.

Pants did its job:

• Proved a point.
• Informed the market.
• Influenced what "memory" now means in AI products.

That's a respectable outcome.
